Ascension: Deckbuilding Game App Reviews

Im generally not a big fan of card games, but this one is a GEM! It took me a few games to fully understand the nuances of acquiring Heroes, Constructs, and Power, but it is a great game to play against AI, online, or local opponents. This one is a keeper! 11/20/16 Update: The latest update broke offline play. Game crashes.

UPDATE Fall 2016: I had to delete the game, reinstall it, and restore purchases to get the latest bug-fix update to run. It was crashing immediately after I tapped the Play Offline button. Try reinstalling if you have problems with the update. Sometimes the AI player becomes abysmally slow when taking its turn. >:-( But other than that, this game is fantastic, and the new expansions keep it fresh by introducing new ways to play that require new strategies. Ive tried lots of games on the iPad, and this is the only one that has kept my interest. I have played practically every day for for about five years now.

The latest patch of the app appears to have broken offline games. Hope theres a new version already in the pipeline for what is usually a very fun application.

The most recent update has now disabled the ability to play... Open app, click play offline... app closes. Good game if it ever works again.

For a while now i cant access the "play offline " option because as soon ad i press it the app crashes and closes. Please help fix this issue, Ive brought card packs and Im scared to uninstall and loose them. Will rate 5 stars once issue is fixed.

I think the AI component is what really makes this app shine. It uses so little battery, and while the occasional bug or lag comes up, the developers have been very good about doing their best to release fixes in a timely fashion. Its just a fun, casual game, and a great way to spend 15 minutes on a quick, easy activity!

This has been a favorite game of mine for years, though as the decks become more advanced, you need a bit more time to build your deck. it always feels like just as im about to have my deck set up, the points run out. Can you please set the maximum selectable points (for offline play at least) to allow a higher cap? It could be double than what it is now. I wouldnt mind paying a buck or two for it as DLC, if you want. Thanks for a continuously enjoyable deck building game! five stars for all your efforts I support you on steam, also. Ive bought the ascension version there, and the VR version too!

Best game of its kind. I literally play a few times every day and have been doing that ever since the original release. Amazing multiplayer experience, and smoothest interface around. Its the gold standard against which I compare every other game. 11/25/16 Update: Still zero problems

The "play offline" bug MUST be fixed. Ive paid for every DCL released in this game and have been a fan for a long time but the fact that half of this app is now inaccessible is unacceptable. This is a great game on the app or in person with the cards but its been a while since this bug started and there still isnt an update. How can that be?

Been having a lot of fun playing online until I was in a game trading moves and winning big and got a notice that the timer expired and I forfeit. I was in the game and had been since the first move. I had an undefeated record and now I have a forfeit on a game I was winning. Sort of ticked about it. Fix this.

Dreamscape Expansion: 1. Playing the same "vision" dream card twice in the same turn, by paying the cost for it, drawing it from the dream deck again and paying the cost again, results in a graphical bug on both the action area and the dreamscape. 2. Defeating "Nilus, The Despair" with less than three cards remaining in the Dream Deck will freeze the game. Please add an option in the menu to enable/disable the counter that appears when you have multiple resources to pay for the same cost. I feel it slows down the game more than it adds value. Ik u guys are prob just working on adding night/day to the app, but thanks for all the support so far.

I paid my $3.99 and ever since I cant even run the game. It crashes on start-up. Done the usual reboots etc but no good.

Dumps you out when you try to run in offline mode. Was working fine before. Cannot play now. Needs fixed asap

Insta-crash upon opening for weeks now after the last update. Unacceptable

Great game. Played hundreds of hours and purchased upgrades. Recent update made it not work, though on original iPad. Came here, went to the support page. Followed the procedure and now it works again! Yipee!

If you like card games this is a lot of fun. I bought the in game extensions which werent too much extra. I wish I had the actual real game. What do I love about it other than it being fun. Its pay once for the games, the extensions if you want them, and play all you want. I am sick of these companies that offer games where you pay to win. Its nice just knowing I can play it all I want. The way the gaming industry should be. I also have D & D Waterdeep, its fun too! It

Fun game and they really nailed the "your turn" updates, so that I can play multiple games at a time no problem. I wish I could preview which cards are in each deck so I can decide if I want to buy them or if I want to play with them.
