Ascension: Deckbuilding Game App Reviews

I just picked up a 2-player version of Ascension a few weeks ago, and liked it so much that I found this app. It is a VERY well-done app version, except that it wont let me buy Promo Pack 5, so I cant play most of the available online games. Also, I wish there was an indication within a game of which specific expansions were used, and if the rules section would include the icon for the expansion being explained.

Fail card game. Tries to be different and unique but just ends up confusing and stupid. DELETED

Ive had this game since its release both in the physical and digital versions and I honestly think the digital version is superior because 900 physical cards are so unwieldy, but its fantastic in digital. I still spend a considerable amount of time playing it, its my go-to app when Im waiting for something and want to kill time, Ive played seriously hundreds if not 1000+ games and its still compelling. If you like deck building style games, or card games in general, this is the best $5 youll spend on an app, though youll very likely end up getting the expansions.

Pack shows up as "purchased" but cant be selected. Please fix this silly bug.

I downloaded this game hoping it would be different from the typical mtg or hearthstone format so I started with the tutorial. I was excited to see the unique gameplay but unfortunately the tutorial freezes at the same spot every time and I cant fully learn how to play the game. Uninstalled.

Ive had a lot of fun with this game in the short time Ive been playing it. Having a fantastic app to play the game on the go is amazing. One thing: We NEED the ability to increase the honor pool for multiplayer games. I cant understand why Im allowed to do it for single player but not multiplayer. With a bunch of expansions in play, the games are over too quickly relative to the pool of cards.

I love Ascension. It is a great game. But seriously, can you fix the bug that when playing in COG, that Void Initiate or any other banishment card doesnt come up on the first run of each new shuffle? There is nothing to banish! I have played thousands of games and nearly every single reshuffle I have one of these cards, it comes out on the first 5. Fix it pretty please?

Its a ton of fun to play, but its about time for another bundle to be released.

I have many games on my iPad, but I come back to this most often. It is just implemented correctly. Definitely recommended.

I truly love this game. Its so much fun. The reason I rated this game so low is because with the newest update, my app keeps crashing and failing to connect to the server. Ive tried everything. If this isnt fixed soon Im going to be extremely mad.

It seems that many of the updates have bugs that crash the app, but the dev team puts out a fix within a day. The new expansion pack is awesome now. (iPhone 6, iOS 8.4)

Great game but..... Needs a chat feature inside of game to talk smack. Needs to allow you to invite or friend people from game center. Its to hard to find your friends on their ecosystem.

Best game of its kind. I literally play a few times every day and have been doing that ever since the original release. Amazing multiplayer experience, and smoothest interface around. Its the gold standard against which I compare every other game.

With this POS until these clowns fix the game breaking AI lag. For some reason, at random, one of the AI opponents takes minutes to make a move, no matter what speed you have the game set to. Forget it if 2 or more of them run into this bug. You could be waiting 8 to 12 minutes to make your move, and switching between apps is out of the question since the game completely pauses. This happens on iPad and iPhone. If I wanted to start a game and wait forever to actually play, Id use the near useless online matchmaking system. Shame, as this is an actually decent card game...when it works...

The bundle should include everything not just six things. Also when you play two expansions the game near the end bugs out and the last player plays every round and the game slows down incredibly when its more than 2 players.

I recently got into deck building games. I figured I would try this since it was free. I quickly picked up all expansions and really, really enjoy it. I enjoy it so much, that the physical game is now on my list. Seriously, grab is game now. As a wish list, I wish, when playing the computer you could set it to endless points and keep playing. It seems like the game always ends JUST before things get really interesting.

Love this game. Favorite game in the App Store right now. Only thing I wish it had is being able to increase the star limit for online games with friends. Please add that function!

Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is an amazing deck building game where 2-4 players build decks on the fly out of some basic starting cards and then whatever cards are revealed in the center. The app is an amazing port of the board game and speeds up gameplay drastically. I have played this game for countless hours using the online features to find others online to play against. The tutorial is pretty decent in explaining the main fame but once you start buying expansions (if you love it like I do you definitely will be) there is little to no explanation of how they work. That being said a simple online tutorial or manual about the set clears everything up and youll be right back on top of your game. Stoneblade also does a great job of making each new set available on the app not too long after the sets are released in board game format. All in all its an amazing game and the online features are fantastic. Finding a group gets a little difficult sometimes but its usually not very hard. Be wary though, no one is going to take it easy on you but youll eventually learn and start having victories of your own. I can honestly say that I have become an amazing ascension player thanks to this app and will continue playing as more sets come out for it.

So sometimes, as I mentioned in a previous review, the AI will take a very long time in taking turns. This happens when the AI has a turn in which it draws multiple extra cards in the same turn. Durning these turns, the AI can take upwards of 10 minutes to complete a turn. This is very annoying and can easily slow the game down. Please fix.

Have found the game unstable for the last month or so.
